Mathers Jewellery & Time is locally owned and operated by John & Suzanne Mather. They are an independently owned and operated jewellery store in Oamaru, North Otago and have been trading since 1990.

John has over 40 years’ experience in watchmaking and is a specialist watchmaker and antique clock restorer, having gained the top New Zealand apprentice award at the conclusion of his apprenticeship back in 1987.

John believes he’s one of just a few lucky people who have been fortunate enough to turn a hobby into a career. He began collecting and repairing clocks and watches when he was around 12 years of age.

A full jewellery design and manufacturing service is also available and John, Suzanne & their team will design new settings for much loved gems as well as undertake repairs. Insurance valuations & appraisals are also part of their service.

Their wide selection of jewellery is carefully handpicked from manufacturing jewellers and wholesalers, many of whom only supply small independent stores. This means that much of their jewellery pieces are uniquely individual.

They also offer a full engraving service – so you can create the look, the logos, or the special designs that your awards deserve.
